ICOI was founded on the principle that effective education can improve the level of care delivered by dental implant teams to their patients. It can also drive innovative research efforts forward. With this in mind, we carry out numerous programs with the aim of promoting education around the world.

ICOI has come a long way since its founding in 1972. In the decades that have followed, we’ve established this organization as the world’s largest dental implant education society. Our programs have developed and grown over time, allowing us to reach more professionals than ever before.
During this time, we’ve also built up connections all around the world. We now work with affiliate societies worldwide to bring ongoing dental implant education to as many professionals as possible, all while promoting high standards in implant dentistry globally.

1976 First issue of Implantologist
1990 Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries, ADIA, was created
1992 First issue of Implant Dentistry
1993 Implant Dentistry Research & Education Foundation, IDREF, was created
2019 First issue of International Journal of Oral Implantology
Through the support of IDREF grant we develop better clinical procedures for our patients and brought new teaching material to our students, especially related to the constant evolution of the digitalization of our profession.
